The Miniature Punchneedle workshop is the third in the series of six weeks of stitching, and the most intense but also my favorite of the workshops. Miniature punch needle is a more delicate form of punch needle rug hooking;?it uses thread and floss Instead of heavy yarn. I have put together a kit of my favorite tools that will be needed for this workshop, but students will also need to bring a sharp pair of scissors or snips which will also be available for purchase on day of class. The project we will be making for this class will be a sweet lavender sachet. Please note, if you are allergic to lavender, and would still like to take the workshop , accommodations can be made to keep the lavender separate from class.

All instruments welcome. At least basic proficiency required.

Come learn a couple of waltzes in contrasting styles based in the Celtic/French/contra dance traditions. I love how waltzes can range from spacious and beautiful to wildly propulsive. We'll explore phrasing, backup ideas, chords, and harmonies to bring these tunes to life. We'll experience the joy of playing waltzes together in ensemble, with a variety of parts available so that less experienced musicians can be successful, while more experienced musicians can be challenged. We'll start out working by ear and transition to sheet music as time goes on, but if you're less comfortable with one of those learning styles than the other, there will be plenty of support. This will be a safe, nurturing, and fun learning environment. I'm really excited to share some cool tunes in a beautiful local space! Let's fill this place up with music!

We'll explore some chordal groove ideas and harmonies. If you have a really good time learning the tunes and want to take them a step farther, you'll be invited as a group to sit in with the band for a medley at one of the upcoming Brattleboro bal folk dances! Festival of Trees 2023
Decorated Christmas Tree
First Annual Festival of Trees

Date: December 1,2,3, 2023

Place: Governor Hunt House Community Center

December 1 - 3, 2023 at the Governor Hunt House & Community Center in Vernon Vermont.  This three day festival offers the community a chance to win completely decorated trees donated by area businesses. The trees will feature themed decorations as well as merchandise and gift certificates from the sponsor businesses. The trees will be raffled off and proceeds support the work of the Governor Hunt House & Community Center.

Over the weekend the historic home will be opened up for the community to walk through and admire the festive decorations while also participating in caroling, a bonfire, bake sale, photos with Santa and more.

Tree sponsorship is open now: We invite area businesses, organizations and individuals to become sponsors of the first annual Festival of Trees at the Governor Hunt House — the area’s only Festival of Trees and a great marketing opportunity!

We ask sponsors to provide and decorate a holiday tree, trimmed with decorations of your choosing — we encourage ornaments that reflect a theme related to your business or purpose. In addition, we invite you to supply one or more generous gifts to be placed under their tree — merchandise or gift certificates.

For our upcoming Festival we have a lot of wonderful sponsors donating trees as well as goods and services from their businesses! (List of 2023 Sponsors)

During the festival, all trees, together with the gifts under them, will be raffled to festival attendees. The festival takes place in conjunction with Vernon’s long-running Home for the Holidays Craft Fair, directly across the street at the elementary school. We plan to widely promote these events and attract strong attendance.

Sponsorship is FREE, with the exception of the Presenting and Supporting sponsor levels.
